in a christmas type of mood..

Yes, you read right.. I said it.. for me it's all about getting down to business and working on my Christmas card orders.. but, for now here's a little baby I am {still} working on.. And when I say working on I mean, the actual card is done, but the sentiment escapes me.

Ahh, my favourite embellishment yet again.. this time I made it out of heavier card stock (a la Papertrey Ink) and it seems to be holding up pretty well.

This *should* be the last one of these for awhile.. just had to get them out of my system, but they are SUPER easy to make and just look darling(if you ask for my humble opinion) The 'bloom' sentiment is from Inkadinkado. I edged the square with PTI's vintage touch tea dye in chamomile.
Here's the finished product. The sentiment will go in the lower right hand corner.. I used Upsy Daisy's new line 'A Walk in the Park' and took my colours from there.
I'll update with a new pic once I decide on the sentiment.

Surf's Up!!

I made these two cuties for my dad, for Fathers day. I figured why do the usual boring, run-of-the -mill dad's day cards?I don't often make shaped cards, but I'm thinking of getting into more of them. They are too much fun!I have to admit, I borrowed the pattern for the hibiscus flowers from a painting my sister did.


Here's a close up of the flowers. I edged them with ink and then used a q-tip to smudge the inside of the flower.. and I used some super small clear beads for the tips of the flower. I think they both turned out pretty cool.

Hey Cupcake!

I've got to admit, cupcakes are up there on my list of favourite things. I love to create them, eat them, gaze upon them.. they are just darling! So it makes sense that my signature birthday cards contain my favourite thing... this one brings a smile to my face, as I hope it will to yours..


I have just discovered Upsy Daisy papers. You can find them >HERE<. I just LOVE them. I used their "mango sorbet" for the background since it was so bright and cheerful, and took colours from it to work with.. Again, trying my hand at stamping, still figuring out what works and what doesn't. Its all bout the journey and the discoveries along the way.






Here's a close up of the cupcake.. all my own designs. I just love to create 3-D images. If you zoom in you can see that the cupcake cup lines are raised..all of the lines fold around to the back and are hidden away out of sight. A lot more work than just glueing them down, but the overall effect is worth all the hard work..

Hello Sunshine!

Ahh. Don't you just love summer? We're into the second day of June and it's finally beautiful, sunny and warm. It's about time if you ask me. With all this gorgeous weather outside, it's hard to concentrate on doing any work! Especially school work, let alone my favourite work..CREATING. Have a few posts today for you! How exciting!

First up: A congrats card for my best friend Chels! I had just gotten a new Prima pack of papers, their Fairy Tales line... (I can't think of the correct name at the time, but I'll have to look it up for you.)

I'm still attempting stamping.. this time i used a 'dream' and 'congrats' stamp from Inkadinkado's "Clear Frames" stamp set. I stamped it in Smoke Blue to match the background paper, and then inked over in white, which isn't too visible but if you tilt it in the light it shows up. I think it was a cool effect..
The polka dots ( I just LOVE polka dots these days...) strip is raised with dimensionals..
Since she likes ladybugs, I used these cutout leftovers instead of the cutouts themselves.. this way the sentiments can be seen still!I loved the overall effect!

For all you Die cut machine loving people(myself included) save the leftover cutouts.. you can use them in SO many different ways...

Sweet Desserts..

Another line I came up with I called 'Sweet Desserts', using part of the cupcake stencil. I love simple, fun designs. These babies were a little more time consuming. I tried coming up with the perfect 3D effect and feel I've achieved it..What do you think?Yes, those are woven strips of paper...yes it took awhile to figure out. But I think it gives the feel of a waffle cone that you'd get at the icecream shop!
Here's a close up of the icecream top and the waffle cone... Makes you just want to take a bite.. The cherry stem is made of bead wire.. hand twisted and shaped... again, all the spangles placed by hand...but in the end its worth it..
Again, trying to capture the dimesions of it all...

Sunshine and Sundays...

What a wonderfully sunny day we are having today! While I'd rather be out gardening, I decided to spend a few moments updating the blog and putting some of my previous cards up.My journey into card making all started by making cards for family birthdays. This past year I have been able to share my creations with more and more people, and even started an Etsy store, just for fun.. So I have decided to share with you some of my favourites from the past year and would like to thank all of you who have supported me on this endeavor. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!


My first design was a birthday cupcake.. and is still my favourite card to make. They were so much fun to design and embellish...just an over all happy feeling, making and receiving!
Each of the spangles(along the cupcake edge) we meticulously placed by hand, the stripes on the cupcake holder are stuck at the top and bottom, and add to the 3D effect I was after. Every cupcake has 3 colour coordinated hearts on them.. a signature of sorts. As well as the 3 spangles around the cherry on top! I got the background paper in a pack and aptly named this collection Candyshop..


Here a pic of all 4 colours together! And of course the sentiment can be customized for each occasion..



I tried to capture the 3D effect on camera.. however I'm not the best photographer... As you can see the stripes on the cupcake holder curve and give it more dimension. I just love these happy cards.. they are just "sweet".

My first post!

This is my first post on my blog. I've set this up to follow my journey into card making... my new obsession! I've made cards for family and friends in the past, but only recently decided to pursue it as a business-of sorts- Anything you see here in my posts *should* be available in my etsy store and if it's not feel free to leave me a message.
Basically this is a behind the scenes look into the details and work that go into my creations..I love adding details to my cards.. which are my own designs and made with my own stencils. With each card that gets created I learn what works, and what doesn't and improve along the way. I love to share my creations with family and friends. I don't claim to be a great photographer, but hope my pictures capture the magic of the cards.
