birthday bling....

Happy Monday!!
Wow, it's been a little while hasn't it? I thought I would share my newest creation with you. I'm over the moon on how it turned out. Makes me smile just looking at it. It was hard to part with this one.. I wanted to keep it for myself, but I know it's gone to a good home! And that, my friends, is all that matters :)
Here's a pic of the inspiration for the cake card. Don't you just LOVE the colours??I tried to capture those delish colours by using PTI's Raspberry Fizz, Recollections Soda Pop Orange and Polka Dot green papers (where I got the last one is beyond me.. if only I could remember!)

Ahh. I just love it. It came together pretty quickly once I got going. For a card made in about 2 hours (it's all about the detail work for me) I think its fab.

This was actually for a 15 year old girlie. I hope she likes it as much as I do. I tried to make it look like those fancy cakes you see on tv. All I did for the diamond check pattern was cut out a strip of paper on my mini guillotine and slice into squares. Then on each intersection I placed my newest favourite embellishment half pearls.(So cheap and make such an impact. I picked mine up at my local dollar store..bling doesn't have to be expensive! LOL)

For the top of the cake, and the candles I took a different approach. I could have made the candle have flames, but everyone does that. I looked around and realized I had the perfect sized stamp from PTI... so using Versamark I stamped 'wish' then heat embossed it with detail clear embossing powder. I love the effect. Using bead wire I twirled some spirals, added a punched mini-star and VOILA.. instant effects!

Using my Marvy punch I punched out these circles then edged them with green ink.. just to give it a more polished, finished look to the circles. Then came the glitz with faux diamonds. (What girl can say no to a little diamond bling??? I certainly can not!!)
This card hinges on the top. Using white card stock I drew out the basic shape, then I cut everything out and then put the backing on it.
I'm definitely going to try this type of card again... it's too much fun to make
Hope your week has started off as well as mine has!
Have a great week, check back for some more cards:)
Cheers!
